MSSE Happy Hour for Students Past & Present

Dear MSSE Students (current and former); As you all noticed, winter struck with a vengeance and we must strike back; we need to cheer ourselves up a bit in the face of a long and very snowy winter. To this effect, we are hosting an on campus MSSE Happy Hour at the Campus Club in Coffman Union. This is a chance to reconnect with the University and the MSSE program, meet old friends, make new friends, and-for those of you in the program-steel yourselves for the quite intense spring semester. Snacks and appetizers are on us; the well stocked bar is open for drink purchases.

Dear MSSE Students (current and former);

The summer is hot and the University is eerily quiet this time of year. To remedy this situation we are hosting an on campus MSSE Happy Hour at the Campus Club in Coffman Union. This is a chance to reconnect with the University and the MSSE program, meet old friends, make new friends, and-for a lucky few-prepare yourselves for the start of your second year. Snacks and appetizers are on us.

We will meet in the well stocked bar of the Campus Club and, if weather permits, move on to the patio.

Symposium on Changing Regulations and Standards for Medical Device Software and Health Information Systems

The University of Minnesota Software Engineering Center presents a Symposium on "Changing Regulations and Standards for Medical Device Software and Health Information Systems".

In this symposium, FDA representatives and industry leaders will provide an update on the status of standards used for medical device software and health information management systems and the current thinking of regulatory bodies regarding what they may require to evaluate the safety of these products.

Summer Software Symposium: Static Code Analysis and Complex Medical Devices

Static code analysis is performed without actually executing programs built from that code. At this event, we are covering analysis performed by automated tools. There are numerous commercial as well as open source tools of varying capability available.

UMSEC Speaker Event: Graphical User Interface (GUI) Testing

UMSEC Event open to all students, alumni, and general public. Speaker Bio: Jay Ruuska is a consultant specializing in software test automation. He helps teams develop and implement test-automation strategies and architectures. Recent clients include Cisco Systems, Toshiba, Symantec, Kodak, and the Gap. He also provides training for automated GUI validation. Previously he held positions at EDS and IBM in the United States and abroad.
